My Story

A Lifelong Love of Stories

Tonya Johnson Peach grew up in a small town in Central Kentucky with a lifelong love of reading and writing. From the earliest age, she was drawn to stories — particularly those that blended the real and the mysterious, the familiar and the strange.

Her journey took her through college, marriage, motherhood, graduate studies, travel across the United States and abroad, and many different life experiences — but writing remained a constant. Through every chapter of her life, the stories were always there, waiting to be told.

Kentucky Roots

Growing Up in Central Kentucky

Growing up in the rolling hills of Central Kentucky meant growing up surrounded by history — old farmhouses, family land, small-town stories, and the kind of deep-rooted community that makes a place feel both welcoming and layered with the past.

That landscape — the misty mornings, the weathered barns, the sense that every old house has a story — became the foundation of Tonya's creative imagination. The countryside she grew up in breathes through every page she writes.

Education & Life Experiences

A Life Fully Lived

Tonya earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Philosophy, followed by a Master's degree in Counseling. Her academic background gave her a profound understanding of the human mind — the motivations, the fears, the buried truths that drive behavior.

That understanding informs every character she creates. Her stories are as much about psychology as they are about the supernatural — about what people carry, what they hide, and what happens when secrets finally surface.

As a mother of two, she also brings the perspective of someone who understands family bonds at their deepest — the love, the loyalty, and the complicated histories that families pass down through generations.

Discovering My Voice

Finding the Stories That Needed to Be Told

Through her years of travel, study, and life experience, Tonya discovered that the stories she most wanted to read — and most needed to write — existed at the intersection of the mysterious and the deeply human.

Paranormal mystery, Southern Gothic atmosphere, haunted places, family secrets, slow-burn romance — these weren't just genre elements. They were the perfect vessels for the emotional truths she wanted to explore.

The First Book

The Journey to The Haunting of Taylor House

Published in May 2026, The Haunting of Taylor House is Tonya's debut novel — a story years in the making, shaped by a lifetime of Kentucky memories, academic study, and a deep love of mystery.

The novel draws on everything Tonya knows: old farmhouses with complicated histories, families carrying secrets across generations, and the feeling that some places are forever changed by what happened within them.
